Database Administrators use specific relational database management system structure and technology to create and maintain physical databases. Database Administrators implement procedures and practices regarding database design, development, monitoring, access, and upkeep.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
*Install and configure database management system software *Monitor and tune the database for improved performance *Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies *Implement capacity planning for databases *Serve in an administrative role regarding database privileges, security, and migration *Create migration strategies for data *Implement strategies to maintain efficient programs, and develop strategies to test and enhance system performance *Develop policies and procedures for system operations to better serve clients *Present database management solutions to clients (predominantly internal)
*Provide support to application development teams and database systems in a 24 x 7 environment with on-call pager rotation or as needed
